2024 Tallman Legacy Q40 Race
Re: 2024 Tallman Legacy Q40 Race
It's been brought to my attention that the "Best Western Airport Inn" that I have listed on the flyer has become a Red Roof Inn. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up so you don't panic when you get there and it's not a Best Western.
See you guys in a few weeks.
Thanks,
Lonnie

Re: 2024 Tallman Legacy Q40 Race
Yes it is, Ray threw in another $50 to round it up to an even $500. Thanks again Ray.
So that makes the prize money as follows:
$300 - 1st
$200 - 2nd
$150 - 3rd
$500 - FT
I've updated the pilot's list.
Also wanted to note at this time the plan is for 3 plane heats with race horse starts. Workers are becoming more and more of a premium.
See you guys in a few weeks.

Forgot to say this: The two sweet and sweet one will be legal for this competition as is, no modifications necessary.
See you guys in a couple weeks.

Unfortunately, college has gotten in the way and I cannot attend. I wish everyone good luck!

Re: 2024 Tallman Legacy Q40 Race
Another year, another Mike Tallman Legacy Q40 race in the books.
I want to first thank all of our workers that came out to help and secondly I want to thank all the pilots that spend their hard earned money to travel to the race, without both of them there would be no race. It amazes me every year how many pilots travel to my little part of the world to help us honor Mike. I also need to thank all of the sponsors that donated money to raise the prizes up, Ray Brown, Craig Farthing, Hank Dieponbroek and Lee Vonday threw some money in the pot on Friday for first place.
We got to see a lot of great, competitive racing for a total of 9 rounds before mother nature decided rain was more important than us playing with toy airplanes. There were a couple midairs, don't remember for sure but I believe all planes involved were landed and were repairable. Mark Parker gave us a spectacular crash due to bad air. He said there was nothing that was recoverable out of the crash, sorry Mark. At the end of 9 rounds not a single pilot had collected all the points possible. Rich Beers collected the most with 25 to take first place and the $500 cash prize. There was a tie for second place between Marcus Blanchard and Grunk, unfortunately we weren't able to get a fly off in so it was settled on time. Marcus took 2nd and Grunk took 3rd. Marcus put up a blistering fast 59.62 time on Saturday that ended up sticking for fast time and the $550 cash prize.
Results are posted below.
Thanks again to all that helped, donated and traveled to support this race. See you at the next one.

Re: 2024 Tallman Legacy Q40 Race
Lonnie, you and your team run a great race. The Mike Tallman Legacy Race was very competitive and Mike is smiling. BTW. I didn’t label the crash as “spectacular”? Good to see many that I usually only see once per year. Thanks again Lonnie.
